Isn't there something more? "Wasn't it just easier when we were just dating? I mean, it just seems like all we do is work over the week-ends. I'm exhausted." Is this the "responsible adult phase" or have I become your typical subdivision, homeowner now concerned with creature comforts such as a good meal, a good game on television, landscaping, window treatments, pottery barn decorations, furniture sales and clipping coupons in Sunday's paper? Not so long ago, I would have been celebrating St. Patrick's Day and nursing my hang-over Sunday morning with a McDonald's cheesebureger and Coke. After our wedding, is the last "Big Event" in my life, death? This is not a depressed comment but one that caused reflection to certain phases of my life -- 4th to 5th grade: goal big shot 6th grader 6th - 7th grade: first dates and become 8th grader 8th grade: football, moped license, graduate and look forward to high school. First drunk experience. Freshman: Football, sports, beer parties Sophomore: Driver's license, dates in a "car" (woo whoo!), Dances, concerts Jr year: Concerts, "steady girlfriend" or in earlier terms, "go-with". Look forward to Senior Year and Prom. Senior Year: Homecoming, prom, SATs, coasting through school, college applications, concerts, steady girlfriend, Look forward to: leaving home. Freshmen Yr: Dorm room, getting lucky, college parties, women, bars. Skip to Sr. Yr: Graduating. Look forward to Own Place. Own Place: Not so fun, "work". Look forward to graduate school. Graduate School: Not so fun, look forward to graduating and job. Work: Find one's identity in the world. Back to graduate school: Not so fun. Back to work. Work: Challenge one's self, through sports again -- running. Find suitable wife. Suitable wife: Found her -- now what? Create nest? Isn't there something more?
