Rippled waves coming my way

Arrived at work at 5 a.m. to complete some projects prior to my trip and also stay on the good side of the boss. Yesterday, he initiated some organizational changes that are sending some rippling waves towards my upper lip which barely breaches the water's surface as tread water to keep afloat. The implications of his actions would remove my only staff member whom I supervise which may hinder further career advancement as one component is the ability to supervise staff. Unfortunately, the organization's system is myopic.
